  • Enforcing a CCJ

    Morning.

The County Court has recently passed a judgement in my favour (as the claimant). It is for money owed to me by a solicitors firm for professional work I completed for them back in January. The judgement was made over a week ago, and stated that they should pay me ‘forthwith”, but I have not yet had any payment or contact from the solicitors. I am wondering what my next best / appropriate step would be? How much time would others allow them to pay? I’m not sure when I should enforce the judgement and how best to do that?

    Thanks in advance :-)

Call in the sheriffs if they don't pay expect that will go down well

Perhaps a daft question, but can they the sheriifs remove anything of value from their office / building (as long as it is owed by the company). I'm wondering whether there will be enough good of value

If they turn up they should get money or seize goods talk to them for advice Remember if you owed the Solicitor money they would not hesitate to use whatever they can to collect

In your shoes I would tread carefully to start with. Sometimes an informal approach may work - are you absolutely positive they have received their copy of the Judgment - to see if they will cough voluntarily. Obviously if they refuse then enforcement is the next step - may even be better to freeze their bank account.
