Hello I had a 15 minute free legal advice and was told the case against my ex-partner was breach of contract and possibly fraud. However, I am only receiving working tax credit and cannot afford to pay for representation. I have been told so far I cannot get legal aid for business matters . I am aware that I can go to county court but was told the person assisting ne may be someone who is not very experienced. The other party however can afford to hire a law professional. I am worried because the amount owed was a loan that will have to be paid back soon. Thank you

Re: How can I get legal help for a business matter
Is it possible to give us a little more detail please. The more detail you give, the better we can try to help. Specifically for me at least (bearing in mind I'm easily confused!
) What was the breach of contract / fraud concerning? You state business advice - is it to do with a joint business venture you had?

Breach of contract is a civil matter while fraud is a criminal matter that should be dealt with by the Police. :mod:Originally posted by soobee62 View PostHello I had a 15 minute free legal advice and was told the case against my ex-partner was breach of contract and possibly fraud.
That's correct, but you probably wouldn't need legal representation.Originally posted by soobee62 View PostHowever, I am only receiving working tax credit and cannot afford to pay for representation. I have been told so far I cannot get legal aid for business matters .
If you are referring to making a claim for money owed to you, can easily make the claim yourself without anyone assisting you. This guide is a good starting point: http://www.justice.gov.uk/downloads/...tart-guide.pdfOriginally posted by soobee62 View PostI am aware that I can go to county court but was told the person assisting ne may be someone who is not very experienced. With the limited info you have supplied, I'm afraid there isn't much more we could add... :confused2:

Re: How can I get legal help for a business matter
Thank you both for replying, the situation was my business partner and I were trying to set up an online sales business, but fell out before it got off the ground. After the fall out I was promised the website as I had put in £4000. I was told I could have the website once another set of developers were found in about 2 weeks. This seemed very strange as apparently the website was already finished. When I asked for the contact details of the developers and designers the request was refused angrily. I was then sent a email stating that he was not going to give me the website but was now going to scrap it. I realise now he didn't think I would want to carry on with the site without him so when I asked for it he was caught off guard as nothing had been done, hence the refusal to give me the contacts. The breach of contract is where he states he was going to give me the site but changed his mind. People I have spoken to believe the page he sent was made by himself using a cheap website builder. Thank you.
