  • Tenancy deposit protection

Hi all,Im due to move out of my current property soon as was wondering if anybody could advise the best way to retain my bond back from the scheme? My current landlord isn't the easiest of landlords to deal with, and I have a feeling he'll wait the full 10days before requesting for my bond back.

    Thanks in advance.

As far as I'm aware there's not a lot you can do. Your landlord has a certain amount of time to review the property and instruct the release of your deposit if he's happy with it. He may do it on day 1, he may do it on day 10, I would speak to him and let him know that you need the money asap and if he could expedite matters a little that you'd really appreciate it.

Tip: Take photos of the condition of the property so if the landlord tries the old chestnut that the property was left in a damaged state in an attempt to retain the bond, they can be wrong-footed. It also provides you with evidence that you left the property in good repair. Make sure the date and time are showing on each photo you take.
