Council Tax Refund

Hi. My girl friend who moved out of her previous apartment paid her whole council tax in advance,, which was 1240 something.. she moved out in november and had two months overpaid if its 10 month thing... and if its a 12 month thing she overpaid for 4 months. how much should she get back from the council.. Could you please advice..

It's a 12 month charge, the payment by 10 monthly payments is just a concession. Calculate on a daily basis (£3.40 per day?) and take it from there.

It is 12 months you pay for over a ten month period, so you should be due a four month refund. If you are still under the same council and you are paying council tax in your new home then they could reduce your current council tax by the refund.
I would go on the council web site and see what it says as you may well have to fill in a form and give them further info.
