Lawyer familiar with italian civil law ?

Can anyone recommend a lawyer, familiar with Italian civil law? Further to my first post here, I have contacted two lawyers by enquiry form but ive had no reply!. I live in England and the litigation case is in Italy.

Any suggestions would be gratefully appreciated.

I'm afraid it's very unlikely that we have anyone here with knowledge of Italian civil law. It's just possible a poster here can point you to someone but please don't rely on us being able to help.

I googled "lawyer in england with knowledge of italian civil law" and that produed a number of suggestions you could follow up. However, they mostly appear to be large international law firms in London and I will guess that (a) they will not be interested unless the claim is of high value and (b) their fees will be enormous.

The one lawyer I know who might fit the bill appears no longer to be practising.

Have you thought of writing to the lawyers for all parties concerned stating that if they confirm that there will be no claim of any kind against you, including for costs, then you will take a wholly neutral position, taking no part in the proceedings and making no claim to any part of the estate?

Another thought occurred to me. Maybe you need to find a lawyer in Italy who is English speaking? You don't say which region of Italy but if there is an English ex-pat community there then there may be some Italian law firms with English-speaking staff offering legal services for ex-pats. They may be able to help.

I don't know if there online discussion forums for English ex-pats in Italy but if you can find one then posting there for suggestions might produce something. Say what city the hearing is in though.

Some universities teach Law with Italian - the students go to Italy and they will have links with law firms there. May be worth an email? I think Manchester is one but a quick google search will give you a list - choose the closest to home.
