Who is allowed to watch CCTV recordings?

Car gets hit in a car park. Car park could be council, at a retail shop/shopping centre, medical centre such as doctor, hospital, dentist.

Who can legally watch the cctv recording? Can the driver of the hit car be given a copy or allowed to watch the cctv?

Data Protection protocols need to be followed.

Whoever overseas and is responsible for the CCTV recording is a Data Protection Controller, so you can try and request a copy, there maybe other individuals who are in the recording, so you can't just 'pop' along at your convenience, but you can make a SAR.

Thank you ECHAT11,the link seems to talk about getting data about yourself.
I thought if you were in a public space, there is generally no right to privacy, being ill or in distress perhaps being exceptions but I do not know. If I can film in public, why does cctv of a public space seem to be different?

If you film in public and it's for personal use, you aren't going to put it on for example the internet, then it's o.k. But if you decide to put it on the internet and there are other people in the film, then you need to get their permission otherwise they could take legal action. CCTV is in a public place, there may well be members of the public in the CCTV.
