What information must a solicitor in Scotland give and how?

I now have PoA for my mother and she was a client of a solicitor in Scotland who was found to have acted against her interests and so is not a willing or friendly individual.
What information and documents regarding my mother can I get the solicitor to hand over and using what process?

The response from solicitor:

We have reviewed your request (1) in relation to XXXXXXXXX under the terms of the PoA and have determined as a result of our initial investigations we are required to confirm directly with XXXXXXX your authority to make the request on her behalf. For that reason we cannot comply with request (1) at this stage.

The PoA was standard and in place straight with certified copies

What would be my next step for a solicitor who is stalling?

So they basically want to confirm directly with your mother that you have the POA to make the request.
