  • Contacts and company sale

If I have a contract with a company which is then purchased by a different company, do my commitments to the sold company transfer to the new owners.

For example, I have a 3-year contract with an estate management company to cut grass etc. The company was bought by a different Estate management company. Does the sale/purchase release me from my contract or am I still bound for the remainder of the term.

You need to read the clauses regarding assignment in your contract with the original management company.
The clauses may state the contract can be assigned with (or without) your permission or no assignment permitted

If you contract with ABC Limited whose shareholders sell their shares to new owners, then you still have a contract with ABC Limited, which must perform its contractual obligations.

Or to put it another way, your contract is with the company and not its owner(s).

It also depends whether they bought just the assets of the company and its business or whether they acquired the shares. If the latter then the company your contract is with is still in existence and so the validity of your agreement with them is unlikely to be affected.
