Correcting highway extent record

How is the highway extent record corrected? If the Highway Authority is given evidence that the highway extent is wrong, such as the report from a renown expert witness, can they just change the record? And if they could just accept it and change the record then what are the options if they refuse to change the record?

The highway authority can just amend the records.

Assume you are looking to recover some land (e.g. ditches between your land and the highway), in which case (if the HA don't agree) you will need to obtain a court order.

Actually the reverse. I'm looking to get it recognised as highway not recover it as mine.

Magistrates or High court? Any suggestion on searching for a suitable solicitor what terms I should use when searching?

In the first instance I would anticipate a County Court action.

Can't recommend any solicitors, and altho Law Society have a search facility, I don't think it is sufficiently detailed to assist your search
You could try Googling "find a solicitor re highway Authority" and see if that turns up anything local to you
