  • I think the ADI is wrong - is he?

I know someone casually who is taking driving lessons. I don't know who pays for the lessons but she's well into adulthood and the driving instructor tells the husband about the progress after each lesson. Even if he's paying, should should the instructor be discussing anything about the lessons other than payment?

Does your casual acquaintance object to this?

I'm not sure, it was mentioned in passing but she didn't seem best pleased with it. The information is more for myself as it came as a surprise to me that they would do this, almost as if the parent was paying for the child's lessons.

There is a range of explanations from benign to worrying.

At the benign end, the instructor might be discussing things to work before the next lesson.

I just feel that if there was anything to discuss, it would be with the learner driver, not with the husband who may or may not be paying for the lessons. Basically, should the instructor be discussing the progress of the student with another person?

If the student is happy why not? Are there other strange things going on (controlling behaviour?)
