  • Warrant for arrest conspiracy to supply cannabis

There is little to no i formation on the penalty and punishments for being “on the run”.

Say police had a warrant to search a property and found around 4K worth of cannabis but the individual managed to evade arrest or capture, how long does he have to hand himself into police before looking at serious punishment and what crime would that apply to?

Look at the original offence first. Without full facts the offence would be difficult to guess but this would probably be Possession with intent to supply (you could not claim so much for personal use). Were other items found such as small bags and scales etc - this would make intent to supply more of a certainty. Here are the guidelines:

      https://www.sentencingcouncil.org.uk...it-to-another/

This would probably be dealt with by the Crown Court but the guidelines put the punishment range for a lesser role in the supply from Low level community order – 26 weeks’ custody. Obviously the more significant the role the greater the punishment.

There is no "concession" for handing yourself in at a certain time but going voluntarily to the Police is a point in a person's favour and pleading guilty at the first opportunity should give them a credit of a third off the sentence.

Whatever this person decides they should not be interviewed without a solicitor.
