  • Can I be my son s legal representative while he is abroad?

Hi. My son is working in China but the lease on his UK flat needs renewing pretty quickly. He is more or less unable to leave China as he will not be allowed to return plus the plane fare is exorbitant ( China s zero covid policy). Can I act as him for the purpose of signatures, legal documents? Or is it customary for distant clients to ‘fax’ over their signature? Thanks for any thoughts, Natalie

A faxed or emailed pdf document signature is perfectly valid, but if a "wet" signature is required, the document can be sent by post or courier. Another possibility is that your son appoints you as his agent to take care of the formalities.
