  • complaints against our dog

Hi, hope i have posted in the right section

About a month ago we got a visit from our local P.C.S.O regarding a complaint that our dog has bit a man on his hand. There was no evidence of even a bite mark according to the P.C.S.O so it was not taken any further. She is on a lead in the garden at all times, unless the man came into the garden then they is no way she could even get close. Even then she would bark her head off at him untill he came closer. Anyway none of that happened. We had a phone call today from the same P.C.S.O saying he keeps complaining about the dog but police are saying they is nothing that can be done. Apparently the dog warden may be getting in touch about her.. when she is in the garden she does bark at passers by that has a dog and it can make you jump i admit. But this man obviously has a vendetta against the dog as shes probably made him jump one too many times. We asked the P.C.S.O for this mans details as he keeps complaining against us but told us he cant give us his details. Is that right? Even the P.C.S.O agreed that he probably wont stop untill something happens to the dog :-/ she is a staffordshire bull terrier & is as soft as they come.

Thank you for any help that is recieved.

    Paul.

Dog on your property looking after your family. If anybody enters the garden and gets bit I cannot see it's your problem, I guess you have a warning sign saying there is a dog in the garden ?.

Problem is the current anti dog laws! (Dangerous Dogs Act 1991 & The Anti-Social Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act 2014)

It is an offence to have a dog out of control even in or on your own property
A dog is classed as dangerously out of control if it gives someone "reasonable apprehension" that it might injure them

With laws like that if you have a dog that acts naturally and a neighbour who, for whatever reason doesn't like dogs, you could have a problem.

Your main problem is probably the reputation of the breed. I'm sure you know Staffies are often confused by the ignorant with pit bulls.
If the warden does come, just make sure your pet is well behaved and good luck
