Only Just Found Out About CCJ!!

Hi,

I'm new to the forum and am looking for some help from people that are much more knowledgeable than me in this area.

So yesterday I was informed by my prospective employers that I had a CCJ recorded against myself from 2016. This came as a total shock to myself as I was completely unaware of this. further digging around shows that this CCJ is recorded at a previous address that I moved out of in 2015, so as a result had no correspondence. The CCJ is in relation to apparently a road traffic collision the county court has told me.
I don't know how to proceed with this and looking for help.

I know I can have a chance to set aside the judgement as I didn't get any correspondence, but what stops the claimant from filing another claim at a higher amount than the original one?
is it possible to have a consent order and pay off the CCJ and then have it removed from the register?

Ok well if you would have paid and were not on notice of the ccj it could be set aside by consent, you would need ot draft a consent order which specifies the reasons why the judgment is to be set aside and what the terms are etc.

You will need to speak to the Claimant or their lawyers to see if they will agree to setting aside

Presumably you were insured against third party risks, so the matter would have been dealt with by your insurers at the time.
I would also bring them into the equation now if this is the first you knew of the claim
