  • Primark Shoplifting

    Hey Everyone,

I did a terrible thing this afternoon, and was caught shoplifting at Primark for a £10. It was something very stupid and I swear to God I will never do this again.
They took me to a back room and told me that they would me sending me a fine. I am very scared, because after some research, I saw that this fine could be up to £200, and that is a lot of money for me.

I researched the site and saw that the recomendation here seems to be just to ignore these letters and that I would be fine. But I am very scared. My question is for the people who ignored the letters, did anything bad ever happened to you? Did any of you eventually had any trouble later for ignoring these letters?

I am really really scared. I am a tourist here, and I am afraid that I will have trouble getting a Visa to come here again.

    Please help me

    Hi and welcome

    1) it is not a fine. In the uk only the courts issue fines, This is an invoice for imagined losses and can be ignored.
    2) We have no record of anyone who ignored these demands for money ever having consequences.
    3) Some years ago a firm did take two shoplifters to civil court to try and recover these "losses". The recovery firm lost heavily, and none have tried since.
    4) If police not involved there will be no records to affect your future visa applications
