  • Fake £20 taken - well known drive thru

18 year old girl went through drive through for food and came to pay - it was her birthday and she had cash - server saw she had several £20 notes in her purse - she paid with a ''used'' £20 note and the server told her it was fake. To her knowledge it was a well used note and came from her uncle - she asked if she could look at it and was told NO, she asked if she could have it back and was told NO and the server waved it at another server and was told to keep it! the girl had to pay again. She was not given a receipt for the ''retained £20 '' - Im wondering if this ''server' is preying on young girls and could be doing this often ? what can shops do legally ? she was very upset

I would recommend firstly complaining to their head office. They might not be happy and may well offer a refund and possibly more.

I went into a shop & paid for goods with a £20 note.
The shopkeeper made a big deal out of checking the tendered note, then handed me change (notes & coins.)
He was less than amused when I took out an ultraviolet torch & made a big deal out of checking those notes.

I have a saying for that sort of situation: what's good for the goose is good for the gander!
