  • Possible Legal Problem

    This may be long.

Anyway. My older brother was locked up for talking and selling drugs in 2016 and was sentenced to 4 years. He got in contact with me to send him money if he had his bank card sent to me. Me being me didn't think anything of this. So his card arrived and I withdrew some money for him and sent it to his prison account. He owed me money and said that he would pay me back some of what he owed so I accepted it.

He has now been released from jail and wants his money back. We had the conversation of what he said back then and now he is denying it.

What can I do? This is really worrying me as I have a government licence for work and if I get into trouble with the police I will lose my job and im the only earner in my family as my wife is still doing her teaching degree.

Any help would be amazing right now.

    Thanx

What sort of amounts are you talking about?
Presumably on his instructions and with his agreement you kept some of the money you withdrew from his account?

Does he also deny he owed you money?
Do you have proof of that debt?

Is he likely to make an allegation of theft to the police?
In the end it will be your word against his if he does and I doubt the police would pursue the matter when they learn of the circumstances.

      Thanx for the reply.

Its only 1k and yes I did keep some of the money with his permission as he owed it to me for past lendings.

Yes he is now denying that he owed me any money and I have no proof. It was done over a handshake.

Im just worried ill get a criminal record from his lies and lose my job. I hope it does not come to that.
