Adoption & Child Maintenance

Hi im looking for some advice if anyone can help.

My 11 year old son has told me he wants his stepdad to adopt him, my ex wife has asked for my consent.

Where do i stand with paying my child maintenance which i am still paying?

An adoption order means the child is, in law, the child of the adopter and they become the only people liable to maintain said child, the liability of the biological parent then ceases.
