  • Ex and Childs Surname Confirmation

HI All, I was hoping for advice. My ex has changed my Children's birth surnames in there primary school on reports, parent apps etc. The identify themselves as her surname rather than there birth certificate registered names. When I spoke with the school they advise they can use a "preferential name" in the school. The thing is that my child made her confirmation a few back which I attended. When she was called up to the alter she was called by her first name and her mums surname. My question is, Can she be confirmed in the catholic church with a surname which isn't on her birth certificate and is she actually confirmed? Thanks

The validity of a sacrament only depends on having the proper Matter, Form, Minister, and Intention, so yes your daughter has been confirmed

I believe (!) that Robert Prevost, a catholic, has chosen to be known by another name.
Lawyer (solicitor) - retired from practice, now supervising solicitor in a university law clinic. I do not advise by private message.

Speaking to your priest might be the best way to allay your concerns.
