  • Divorce without clean break order

    Hi

I got divorced from my ex wife in October 2021 after being separated since Dec 2018. There was no clean break order sorted as I couldn't afford it due to her kicking me out and then leaving me to pay all the bills at the council house we shared. (She had been cheating) We have a son who is now nearly 17 and i paid maintenance of £50 a week (more than the CMS recommended) even though he stayed with me most weekends and all the school holidays, and i bought him all his clothes and stuff he needed. He has been living with me since August last year and even though she is working full time she has never given me anything (again, im not wanting anything, just painting the picture as such).

Fast forward to now, I have bought a house with my current partner and we are due to get married in May this year. I am worried I should get this clean break order sorted as I believe she could try and take assets from me and my current partner? How will it work? As I say there's no maintenance as she hasn't even offered to pay me any, and our son will be getting a job at 18 next March. Any help would be appreciated. Many Thanks

Forgot to add, we had no savings and she also left me in a lot of debt from credit cards/catalogues she took out in my name. I had a pension at the time of divorce but was worth only about 5k.
