Name on mortgage but (now) ex paid it and I paid bills - where do I stand?

Hi, apologies if wrong thread.

Uncle has been with his partner for 30 years but recently split. His name is on the mortgage, but he paid the bills and she paid the mortgage. She is asking him to take his name off it so she can sell it and give him half. A week later she said she wanted her parent's inheritance gift (50k) out of it before the split. I worry she will not honor her word.

Where does he stand?

The reason his name is "on the mortgage" will be because he is a co owner of the property. Surely he can sign sale papers at the same time as the other owner, having ensured that the solicitors acting confirm they will send him half the net proceeds.
