  • DIY Divorce

    Hi,

Are there any people here who have done their own divorce through the government website? If so, what was your experience and is it relatively simple process?

I cannot afford a solicitor, I am on UC.

    Any help appreciated.

No, as I remain married, but (as you probably know) the process is here: https://www.gov.uk/get-a-divorce.

The process of simply dissolving a marriage is not difficult. But seek help if there are other things to be sorted out, such as children, property, maintenence, other financial issues... And don't forget pension sharing.
Lawyer (solicitor) - retired from practice, now supervising solicitor in a university law clinic. I do not advise by private message.

Litigants in Person should download and read this: https://www.judiciary.uk/wp-content/..._in_Person.pdf

      Hi Atticus,

      Thank you for replying.

I am older now, al my children are grown and left home, I live in a rented property and I/we dont have any financial assets or pension so I am guessing it should be straight forward?.

Or maybe thats being optimistic .
