Civil wedding in Africa

Hi Everyone

We are about to do an online divorce application on gov website..

We are wondering before we do this should we check to see if we are on the marriage registry?

Presumably they would have done this when we were married in Gambia (Africa).

At the moment we just have the wedding certificate that they gave us.

It is unlikely that your overseas marriage will have been officially registered in the UK, but if your marriage was part of an organised package you can check with the company concerned.

You can divorce in the UK if you are habitually resident in the UK.
