Helpful Advice needed.

My wife's brother has recently gone into a nursing home suffering with Parkinson's, unfortunately he can only talk in a whisper and he is unable to walk.

He has a partner who is not being very helpful, she says the relationship is over, has not visited him or spoken to him for 2 months now.
She will not answer the phone or email when we call and she will not let us in to collect any of his clothes, mobile, radio etc.

The house they live in is owned 50/50, and we do have his verbal permission and the key.

What if anything can we do?

Have you tried speaking with Citizens Advice or Age Concern? This is a difficult matter as his partner may be suffering with depression because of her partners illness. How long have they been together and owned the property?

Been together 5/6 years owned the same property for 2 years, both in their mid 70's.

A sad tale.

As he is one of the owners of the house he has the right of entry and can delegate that to his agents (you)
You could therefor enter the property against her wishes to retrieve his possessions.

If you intend to do that, I would suggest you do it with police accompaniment.
Visit the local police station, explain the problem and ask if one of the officers (preferably female) could accompany you to prevent a possible breach of the peace whilst you collect his belongings.
