Financial Consent Order Response

I recently divorced and we have two young children. I never wanted to divorce but she asked me to leave the home after I questioned where a large sum of money had gone. Long story short, her father was an absolute liability, ruined his family financially couldn't afford his house so had to sell it and he moved in with us. My ex wife suggested we go on a mortgage holiday so we didn't pay any mortgage for 5 months thinking that money would be saved, but instead she spent ispen

Fast forward to now and I received a financial consent order from my ex partner and the solicitor stated ....
My client wants 100% of the property signed over to her (My name will remain on the mortgage but I will not have any financial interest should the house be sold) otherwise if it is not signed over she will claim half my pension and half of all my other assets the judge will rule in her favour and she will keep the house and I will pay child support and spousal support and...I have 22 days to respond.

I've looked up solicitor fees and I'm stunned how much it is going to cost me. One solicitor said it will be close to £15,000.

Does anyone have any advice on how I can respond to this? And how I can limit the financial outlay of employing a solicitor?

A warm welcome to you, please don't feel alone.
Firstly, you should understand this situation (regarding solicitors) is very usual for families, up to 80% of all cases through the courts are unrepresented by any solicitors/barristers. With support, you can respond to this yourself.
It would be wise to spend a much smaller amount of money to see a solicitor to review your formerly joint finances and come up with a counter offer. Once you have a better idea of what is fair and reasonable, you will be in a better position to then defend that position, should it go to court.
Factors will include your respective incomes, who paid what to the house, how old the children are, who they live with.

At the same time, please make a GP's appointment urgently. When you go through a long term stressful process like divorce, the brain can become depleted of important chemicals which dictate your mood and capability to manage life. Only medical support can help support you back to mental health, including possibly medication and counselling. Do not be afraid to ask for help. You are important, you are a father and you will get through this to enjoy a future without marital unhappiness and deceit as part of your day to day life.
