  • Financial control - can I get my money back?

Hi all, long story short but my now ex partner financially controlled me and moved £8000 from our joint account into his name 3 years ago because I had a CCJ pending (I was able to get it thrown out), but after that he refused to give the money back and continued to financially control me. The police are currently investigating him for controlling and coercive behaviour, I have 197 pages of evidence from Facebook that he was holding the money without my consent in an attempt to prevent me from leaving. We weren’t married. Have I got any hope in hell of getting my money back?

Yes, you can issue a court claim against him and land him with a CCJ if he doesn't repay.
"Although scalar fields are Lorentz scalars, they may transform nontrivially under other symmetries, such as flavour or isospin. For example, the pion is invariant under the restricted Lorentz group, but is an isospin triplet (meaning it transforms like a three component vector under the SU(2) isospin symmetry). Furthermore, it picks up a negative phase under parity inversion, so it transforms nontrivially under the full Lorentz group; such particles are called pseudoscalar rather than scalar. Most mesons are pseudoscalar particles." (finally explained to a captivated Celestine by Professor Brian Cox on Wednesday 27th June 2012 )

Really? I thought because it came from a joint account he was legally entitled to take it out? Ok it will cost £415 but it’s worth fighting for if I stand a chance as it’s almost £7000!

If you can set out a clear case as to why he should have returned it, then you could bring a case against him, especially with all the supportive evidence from police on coercive behaviour.
Of course he was able to lawfully remove it from a joint account, but if the money was yours and should have been returned, you have arguments to raise.

Ok, I just did quite well getting a non molestation order at the county court with no legal representation (he had a solicitor AND a barrister, paid for with my money no doubt ) so I’ll post the letter before claim I’ve written and see how things go. Thank you.
