I'd like to to finally get the Decree Absolute out of the way.* Can I simply apply for it or will there be complications after all this time, will I have to get another Nisi to start with, can I do whatever it takes without having to contact the other party about it?

A decree nisi does not expire. If your application for a decree absolute is made more than twelve months after the making of the decree nisi, the court may want an explanation for the delay. It will also want to know whether the parties have lived together since the decree nisi, and whether any children have been born since the decree nisi. You can apply for the decree absolute as a separate party therefore contact with your ex can be reduced.
