My friend's hubby has said he does want a share of the proceeds of the house sale, after all. There's a surprise. A few years ago, he was left quite a sum of money by a relative who died, and now my friend is wondering if she can claim a portion of that, given they are still legally married, or can he successfully get some money from the house even though he has not paid the mortgage in 20 years, but keep his legacy to himself? LIke I said,my friend doesn't have anything in writing. Thank yhou in advance for any/all responses.
Update & advice pse if poss. Separated 20 years, house in joint names...
