      Re: extremly bad neighbours

not sure if this is the right place but i am suffering harrasement from my neighbour
over the past 3-5 years she has sent my family 3 letters one under a solicitor suposedly trying threating to take us to court for various things 1 being my fence which was broken by her children in the first place playing ******** and pulling the fence apart then she tried to get me in trouble with environmental health dept of my local council over a compost which wasn't really there and never really got off the ground as all our garden waste goes to recyclilng she said it was atracting rats at the time we had 3 cats and 2 little dogs who would have loved to chase away rats then just this week she spotted a loose piece of concrete which I hadn't even seen and said she wanted compensation for this I have removed the dangerours bit but I know want this to stop and am ready take this to court the police were involved but know after this last letter they have said it is a civil matter and that I needed legal advice I have contacted and am meeting CAB and have been though the law society website but the solicitors don't seem to be taking on any more legal aid cases in north essex as I am working but quite low pay but according to there criteria not enough to get any help and was made redundant twice in a year so I can't pay for it I had my fence redone costing me £900 which i got from some insurance but this should have gone on keeping up with my mortgage. what can I do I should be claiming compensation from them not the other way round both me and my wife are receiveing couselling for depression and my wife hasn't been in the garden for 3-4 years also when we went to the Poice she followed us. the Police went after but did nothing the Kids Last and the parents called me a Peado which would also have legal issues the Police did nothing about this this year the kids have started throwing clothes over shouting my name out the wife blocked half my drive for about 3 days the police said did nothing even said well you can still get out. the kids climb hang on to my fence and look over the list is nearly endless the kids are shouting in the garden at about 7,30 - 8.00 am most days as well

Okay. Do you own your home or rent it from a landlord, e.g. housing association?
Life is a journey on which we all travel, sometimes together, but never alone.

She has committed a string of criminal offences. You also have several potential civil claims against her.

Complain to Environmental Health (make sure you do everything in writing. If your literacy is not good, then find someone who can write a decent letter - you'll get a better response).

Is she a tenant, an owner, or a private renter? Complain to the Housing Association or her private landlord.

If the local Police are a dead loss, take it higher - complain directly to a senior officer. Point out the extremely bad publicity that has attended recent murders and suicides associated with situations like this.

Cultivate your local beat manager (that's what they call beat bobbies these days).

Consider approaching your local councillor and MP.

Go to a solicitor yourself. Threaten her with civil action. Hit her with an injunction or two (make sure that you request that a power of arrest be attached to it).

Start a detailed record and note every incident. Invest in covert surveillance devices for this purpose (these are quite cheap and readily available over the internet).

Is she committing social security fraud? Report her.

Is she a drug user? Are her visitors dodgy? Keep records of them and report them to the police.

Find out everything you can about her and explore every avenue of attack.

There is no shortage of sleazy solicitors-for-hire who will send out threatening letters in the hope of extorting money from some unfortunate or their insurance company.

You should also gather evidence. Keep a diary of ALL events in as much detail as possible. Record their actions and keep them safely backed up somewhere. Most mobiles have fairly decent recording facilities nowadays.

With solid proof, then action can be taken. Until that point, it's really your word against theirs.

Bone idleness. Political correctness (they are 'deprived').

Strips of (blunt) conical, plastic spikes fixed to your side of the fence, near the top, will stop the little buggers climbing up and peering over.

Get a mosquito noise maker - link - which you won't be able to hear but the louts will. (link)
