              And just in case!

              Kate's Poem

What do you see, nurses, what do you see?
What are you thinking when you look at me?
A crabbit old women, not very wise,
Uncertain of habit with far-away eyes
Who dribbles her food and makes no reply.
When you say in a loud voice " I do wish you would try".
who seems not to notice the things that you do,
And forever is losing a stick or a shoe
Who bathing and feeing the long day to fill.
Is that what you're thinking? Is that what you see?
Then open your eyes nurse, you're looking at me.
Ill tell you who I am as I sit here so still
As I move to your bidding as I eat at your will.
I'm a small child of ten with a father and mother,
Brothers and sisters who love one another.
A young girl of sixteen with wings on her feet,
Dreaming that soon a lover she will meet.
A bride soon, at twenty my heart gives a leap,
Remembering the vows that I promised to keep.
At twenty-five now I have young of my own
Who need me to build a secure happy home.
A young women at thirty my young now grow fast
Bound to each other with ties that will last
At forty my young now now grown will be gone
But my memory stays beside me so I don't mourn
At fifty, once more, babies play round my knee.
Again we know children, my loved one, and me.
              Dark days are upon me.
              My husband is dead
I look to the future, I shudder with dread
For my young are all busy rearing young of their own
And I think of the years and the love I have known.
The body it crumbles, grace and vigor depart,
There is now a stone where I once had a heart
But inside this carcass a young still still dwells
And now and again my battered heart swells,
I remember the joys, I remember the pain
And I'm loving and living life over again
I think of the years-all too few- gone to fast
And accept with stark fact that nothing can last
So open your eyes, nurses, open and see
Not a crabbit old women,,,,,look closer, see ME

                  Re: Kate's Poem

Thank you for that DT. The scan in post #6 worked for me, though.

I do firmly believe that when our bodies are no more, that all of our life's experiences are what we take with us. They eventually become the sum total of our brief visit to this realm - and perhaps the sole purpose of that visit.

We do not have to be graceful, intelligent or articulate to acquire or impart Wisdom. We need love and respect, though, if we are to receive it from those who can enrich us by their own experiences.

                    Glad it worked.
I saw this years ago and there are lots of hospitals it was supposed to have been found in !
it always stuck with me and now I, myself, am getting "old" !

                      Re: Kate's Poem

The time we spend in this Realm is the mere blinking of an eye. Our bodies are mere containers for our Spirit through which it experiences the Physical Realm. At the end of the Spirit's time in the Physical Realm, it departs back to the Spirit Realm from where it whence came to return again, in another physical body, to perfect itself. Just remember that some of us are experiencing the Physical Realm for the first time, whilst others have experienced the Physical Realm many times before.
Life is a journey on which we all travel, sometimes together, but never alone.
