Caspar is right, you need to speak to a specialist family law solicitor. As Wends says, many firms will see you for a free initial consultation and you can discuss concerns over paying for ongoing representation with them then.
I suspect your wife has been advised to reconsider the clean break you are seeking because of your young child, and the importance of keeping a roof over her head and continuity in schooling locally etc. Lots of factors to consider here TBH but the welfare of children comes first and foremost.
