Can a person register for a new marriage whilst awaiting their Decree Absolute?

As far as am aware your previous marriage needs to be legally dissovled prior to remarrying. without a decree of absolute then your previous marriage is not legally dissolved. To remarry as such would be illegal. Your best waiting for the Decree of aboslute before proceeding with registering for marriage as when the big day comes and you still not got your decree of abosulte your buggered. Though i think you will likely need it to register for marriage anyway. When you register to get married, you have to take your ID, a current bill showing your address AND a true original copy of the decree absolute, it's best that you ring the registrars office and ask if they will make a provisional booking, but they will not let the banns or the marriage go ahead without all the paperwork being in order.Comment

You can apply to the court for a four week gap between nisi and absolute however, rather than the normal six weeks.Comment
