My father has been ill for some months and is having to go into respite due to his condition. He has been assessed and is not of sound mind. His current wife (my step-mum) has mentioned that I may be liable to pay towards his care as he has no money or assets for which to pay for it. I do not have funds - I rent and am divorced so limited income but do have savings for the future to cover my children and myself. As his wife, she owns a house which is fully in her name - so no financial links to my father. However she is his next of kin. I want to know if I am liable to pay for this care by law - even though I don't have funds to support this. Will they request access to my accounts and can they force me to pay towards his care? Thank you s much for any help x
