Do I need foster carers' permission if I'm over 16

Hi, I'm a 17 year-old in foster care and want to visit a friend who lives a few hours away for 3 nights, however I'm afraid my foster carers would not give me permission to do so. I'm aware that legally, a 16 year old can leave home without parent's permission, but I'm not sure if the law is different for foster children? I don't have any history of misbehaving or endangering others. Also, I'd make it clear to my foster carers of where I'm going in advance and let them speak to my friends' parents beforehand, I'm not trying to make it a secret that I'm going or anything and I'm aware of the risks, etc. and am sure that I will be safe.

You can leave home and set up your own home at 16, but I don't think this is what you have in mind.

Would it be better to have a talk with your fosterers, about your trip?
