I have been separated from my ex husband for 2 and half years now. When we separated the house money got split so there isn’t an issue there and my ex has said he will pay for the divorce as it was him that cheated on me after 20 years together.

I was told by a solicitor in a free advice session that I am entitled to some of my ex husbands pensions as we were married and it’s law. He always kept his finances, etc very close to his chest. We need to get the divorce underway but I am unsure how I am supposed to go about dealing with the pension issue. I have been told it has to go to mediation but I have no idea where to start with this. Does it have to be talked about before the divorce paperwork is started or after the divorce is sorted. The solicitor said I would get a pension set up from it if I remember correctly. Any comments on how this works greatly appreciated as I am very confused.
