    Can I keep my house after divorce.

    Hello I’d like some advice please - I’ve also posted my question in the Welcome thread as I’m a newbie and not sure where to post. After 7 years of marriage is sadly likely that my husband and I will divorce due to his alcohol problem. The house was mine before the marriage and is still in my name, he paid off the mortgage of £50,000 and the house is worth about £500,000. My husband has no income and a few thousand in savings. I work full time. My question is do I have to split the property with him or can I keep my property by transferring it to my children or a trust . I am prepared to repay his £50,000. Thank you

    There is no simple rule to say so A court looks at the total assets and needs and finds a division whoch best fits the situation in front of him. Children?
    I have to say that he may indeed get something from the house.
