  • Reasonable request help

Hi. Am wondering if what I am being asked to do is a reasonable request or if I could refuse. I have been doing the same delivery job for 4 years now and recently we have been told we have to load our vans in a morning. This wouldn't be a problem but we have been given no additional time to load (takes 15-20mins.) We are expected to do it in the same 15 minuits we are given to do our safe and legal checks and figure out where we are going. When this was brought to my managers attention she has said if we have a problem doing it we should start work earlier. Any help would be appreciated

I am not sure from your post when you used to load vans before this new request came in I presume ar the end of the previous day when you returned from delivering that day? Also when are you being given details of the deliveries being made doe the day?

The first thing to consider is whether your contract state about changes to duties or undertaking any other duties are required?

Secondly if there is one of these clauses then there would need to be consideration as to whether what you are now being required to do falls within the discretion afforded to the employer under this type flexibility clause.

Lastly what consultation has there been with you and anyone else affected by this change?
