My O/H was dismissed on the 21st of December for Gross Misconduct ( bullying and harassment ) There were other alleged claims that were upheld , but did not form the decision for dismissal . He is appealing against the penalty and process , deadline 9/1/2017 , Can anyone advise if he can raise a grievance at an appeal after dismissal ..... Thanks in advance for any help .

Re: Gross misconduct dismissal and appeal question
A grievance about what? But whilst there is nothing stopping him from doing so, grievances at this stage are rarely worthwhile. Nobody listens to grievances seriously if they are a knee jerk reaction to disciplinary action. Which is how they are generally viewed. It would take a strong and independent issue to be worth doing.Originally posted by Tincan View PostMy O/H was dismissed on the 21st of December for Gross Misconduct ( bullying and harassment ) There were other alleged claims that were upheld , but did not form the decision for dismissal . Re: Gross misconduct dismissal and appeal question
I don't think you understand. The point is that it doesn't matter - the view is that legitimate grievances are not just raised when it comes to a disciplinary. If you have a grievance you raise it. If toy don't have any complaint until the point when your are already in a disciplinary process, the standard opinion is that you are simply trying to muddy the waters. So they are not taken seriously. Whether that is the truth or not doesn't change the way this is thought about. So I'm not expressing my own opinion - I have none because I didn't know the answer as to what the grievance was about, hence my question. But this is just the way that they are generally viewed in these circumstances, and therefore they have little credence given to them.Originally posted by Tincan View PostI was only asking the question Sangie , whether he does or does not is his decision , and it most certainly would not be a knee jerk reaction .
