  • [UK] Boss harrassing me after I didn't work notice period

    • I was a junior level employee at my old place and worked there for a year before leaving.
    • I worked from home up until recently when he wanted me to start working in the office again recently.
    • I would have to rent a new house to meet that request so I said I would have to leave instead.
    • I left after giving a week notice and offered several solutions to offer a handover including remote handover. My proposals were ignored/denied and instead I was threatened with legal action.
    • On my last day my boss laid into me saying i'll never work again that he will ruin me and that I was a liar all the while swearing and raising his voice at me which I recorded on my phone so that I could remember what was said for later.
    • Since then I haven't been back but he has been emailing me constantly demanding i go to a grievance hearing, a disciplineray hearing and this and that.
    • This culminated with him coming to my home address this morning whilst I was at my new job, handing some documents to my disabled girlfriend then taking her picture without permission and leaving.

I am currently waiting for some free legal advice but I can't afford expensive solicitors on my current wage. If this goes to civil court I know he can do me for breach of contract but I feel like he has harrassed me and my girlfriend to the point where it's reasonable for me to refuse to work my notice period in the same office as him.

    Any advice HUGELY appreciated.

    extra info:
    • My notice period is 3 months in the contract.
    • I was a Permanent employee
    • I raised verbal concerns with stopping the working from home agreement but the original agreement was until january.
    • I told him then i hadn't been able to find anywhere to live and we extended it another month. I still couldn't find anywhere which I was telling him every week but nothing was changed in the agreement then.
    • I notified him the month before I was due to start back in the office that I would have to leave. My official resignation was 2 weeks before.
    • The working from home was a temp change for 6 months, prior to that I worked in the office 6 months.
    • The documents he handed my girlfriend were emails between him and myself, a copy of the working from home proposal i wrote, and a request to go into the office for a disciplinary hearing.

When you handed in your notice was it accepted? - Were you given written notification of acceptance or refusal of your notice?

Can you write up a breif trnascript of the recording? - Not the full conversation but just part of it, so as to give us an idea as to how he was talking to you etc!
