  • 4 day on 4 day off shift - Christmas day

    Hi all,
I hope someone can answer to my question and help me to understand my situation at work. I work on 4 nights on 4 off shift rotation.full time. My work starts at 7pm and finish and 7am. My last night shift should be on 24th of december finishing on 25th morning at 7am, becouse its christmas day so we not coming in on 24th. Like every year. For last month we been told we finish then on 23rd (24th off due to not working after midnight so we will have 5 days off). At last minute evening of 22nd december company tell us they changed the plan and we are required to come in to work for night shift on 26th december to work instead of 24th. My question here - is it legal with such a short notice? People booked holidays flights christmas with familys. I do not know much about the law - if we have 24th off do we must to work other day instead? I know 25th is officially off in England , is it same with nights starting on 24th and finishing on 25th? As they said we should appreciate that they gave us 24th night shift off work. I hope You understand something from what i wrote Thank you very much and Merry christmas!
