  • Appealing Evaluation of job

Hello, I have a two-part question i) can anyone tell me the ins and outs of appealing a job evaluation?
Apart from the obvious flaws in the process - the evaluation process the organisation has used doesn't fit the job I do and the grading team have marked me incorrectly against their criteria (they've scored me as not managing personel, although I have been for the last 5yrs). I have no confidence in the HR team or manager 'running' the evaluation and who will receive my subsequent appeal. Due to failure to follow procedure, Unison want to call a halt to the whole thing, but I started this with the employer in Jan 2014 and I would like to see a conclusion.
ii) Can my manager make a change to my working conditions when there is an outstanding appeal in process, the evaluation came from a recent consultation? Thank you

    Re: Appealing Evaluation of job

Your evaluation scheme will be particular to your sector (guessing local government or NHS). In the NHS there is a single evaluation scheme, except in FTs which need not follow the national scheme although many do, in Local Government I believe each council adopts their own scheme.

Why do you say the scheme does not fit your job?

It doesn't matter whether you are in fact managing staff, it is whether your job description says you do - and your job description should have been reviewed before the process started.

Your appeal will be heard by a different panel to the one which did the original evaluation, your confidence, or otherwise, is not material unless you can show actual evidence of improper conduct or bias.

Unison have no power to stop the process.

ii) Yes, following ordinary processes. The appeal against evaluation outcome has nothing to do with working conditions. What are they trying to change?
