  • Ishan9742 wage delay

Hi I'm an international student and I was working in a take away in sheffield. I was always paid in cash. The owner owes me 200 pounds and is prolonging in paying it. What can I do?

Have you paid National insurance and tax and do you have any wage slips?

You shouldn't have be paid cash in hand due to income tax and national insurance.

Do you have the correct documents to work in the UK or does your documents only permit you to study here and not permit you to work in the UK?

Possibly but depends if his student visa permits him to work in UK whilst studying as tier 4 visa allows them to work (subject to certain conditions - http://www.educationuk.org/usa/artic...hile-studying/), where as other lower tiers may not!

Many students are allowed to work in the UK while they study, subject to restrictions regarding number of hours worked during term time.

Either way, the employer was breaking the law, by employing someone illegally and/or by not paying taxes an NI contributions. :mmph:
