Re: Help - can they do this?

From what i have read so far, you worked continuously for the college for 25 years, you were tupe'd over to the new owner of the college recently and also recently you applied for your current role and your application was successful and the job offered to you, which you accepted. They can not make your role redundant in order to offer it to someone else, that would be unfair dismissal (possible even automatic unfair dismissal) and the fact you have been continuously employed for 25 years means you certainly meet (even surpass) the 2 year qualifying period for taking the matter to tribunal. They also can not dismiss you in order to give your role to someone else, as that too would be unfair dismissal (though if you had less than 2 years service they could dismiss you for any reason, but that's not the case here).

Basically, they can not take the role from you and the advise given so far is spot on.

But i am interested in knowing precisely what the other persons grievance against the college (employers) is, as we could, depending on what the grievance is, use that to your advantage!! Yes that is a HINT!

      Hi Angrylecturer,

The background to this is probably more complicated than you know or are able to tell us on here. Are you a member of the University and College Union (UCU)? If so, you should speak with your representative.

      Regards,

      Matt
