  • Maternity/ Paternity

I was wondering if anyone could help.

Basically my partner and I are expecting our first child. Now my Wife works in childcare and was only planning to have 2 weeks off work assuming everything went well. Obviously if she ends up having C section or something she will probably use her full quota of 6 weeks pay at 90%

Anyway i'm entitled to 2 weeks paternity but at the statutory rates of £139.58 its not affordable. So i was going to take 2 weeks holiday.

But it then struck me, if everything goes well and my Wife has 2 weeks maternity obviously there still that quota of 4 weeks at 90%. Its my understanding that you can now share this time off? So could i claim this and also get 2 weeks at 90% pay instead of eating into my holiday?

    Any help would be appreciated

          Re: Maternity/ Paternity

Might be best to update the thread i linked to to show shared parental leave has now come in to force for parents whose child is due on or after April 5 2015.

Ahh right, i never even noticed the link for Shared Parental leave in the other thread to be honest - Just assumed the thread would have been updated once they came in to force.
