Hi. I'm working in the warehouse 5 days out of 7, 8h a day. Recently my employer changed my rest days and now I'm off on Saturday and Monday. Since it says in my contract I'll be working any 5 days out of 7 I can't do much about it but someone told me I entitled to have 3 days off in a row every 5 or 6 weeks because current pattern of rest days is not enough for the proper rest. Can't find any info on the internet about so I would be really grateful if any of you guys would able to clear that out for me. Thanks.

Re: 3 rest days in a row ?
I don't think that is correct I'm afraid Kojo.
Consider someone who works Monday - Friday (a typical work pattern) they only take 2 days in a row (Saturday & Sunday)
Unless driving a vehicle under tachograph rules, there is no specific rest period regulations. I assume from what you posted you work on the Sunday?
Also consider there are jobs where people work 7 days per weekAny opinions I give are my own. Any advice I give is without liability. If you are unsure, please seek qualified legal advice.

Re: 3 rest days in a row ?
Under the working time regulations your only entitled to a minimum weekly uninterrupted rest period of 24hrs per week. At the moment your getting double that with two uninterrupted rest periods of 24hrs each rest period per week. Rest period 1 being Monday and rest period 2 being Saturday! Please note that this advice is given informally, without liability and without prejudice. Always seek the advice of an insured qualified professional. All my legal and nonlegal knowledge comes from either here (LB),my own personal research and experience and/or as the result of necessity as an Employer and Businessman.

Re: 3 rest days in a row ?
Of course if you've worked for a while getting 2 days together it could be considered, and argued, that it is custom and practice.
Unfortunately working rights are one thing and asking for these is a sure fire way to get your bosses back up and lead to a uncomfortable time and probably you'll quit or be fired if you attempt any sort of assertion of any rights, terms or conditions.
The employee has way more to lose so quite often you have to take a kicking to survive.
If you are getting down and feel the end may come, take notes of everything it's the only way to defend yourself.

In regards the bit i highlighted above, i suspect the OP had agreed to the new work pattern and therefore to a variation of his/her contractual terms where hours and/or days to be worked are concerned. Please note that this advice is given informally, without liability and without prejudice.
