    Hi

I am requesting some information regarding my company.

I work for a large company and drive a company vehicle. We have diffrent contracts. I work for 1 of the contracts a s a engineer driving from job to job. Before Christmas we got told to goto the office as we're having our tracker fitted. Before this we have had no information regarding this apart from were having 1.

    1. What is the legal requirement before 1 is fitted.
    2. They have said it's just for this contract I work on and not for the whole fleet of 35000 vans they have. So they is only 60 vans with them on.
    3. Does the management have to have them on if it's just my contract only.

It doesn't bother me it just seams a bit underhanded and just like a bit of info about this.

    Thanks

I assume that the vehicle is provided by the company? if so i can no reason why they can not fit one to the vehicle you dirve; do you have anything to hide?

Yes it is provided by the company. I was requesting information regarding legal issues with it. I haven't got an issue with it and not not a issue with being tracked. If I wanted a smart answer I would have asked my dog.:beagle2222:

        Re: veichle tracker

Would expect as they own the vehicle they are entiltled legally to install a tracker would bet some companies have them without employees knowing if there is anything illegal there are many thousands of illegally fitted trackers

Don't understand why it seems underhand to you as your employer hasn't been at all secretive about the fitting of trackers.
And that isn't a smart answer. just an expression of bewilderment

Vehicle Tracking: Right to Privacy and Human Rights Legislation.

Vehicle Tracking is, by it’s very nature, often seen by drivers as a technology which is highly intrusive, an infringement upon their right to privacy and another stick used to beat the back of the employee.
There is no doubt that in some organisations this is probably a true reflection of both the concerns of the workers and how Vehicle Tracking is used by organisations with poor management.
An employee who feels that he is being watched by Big Brother may become resentful.
A workforce that feels exploited and put upon is less likely to want to positively contribute to the success of the enterprise.
However, this need not be the case. Introducing Vehicle Tracking should be a transparent process, involving dialogue between employer and employees. Vehicle Tracking should both used by both parties positive step which can help increase productivity, reduce costs, improve customer service, ensure driver safety and ultimately be used to the benefit of employer, employee and customer.

Perhaps if you had asked your dog first he would have told you it was a silly question, instead you came and asked it here
