Even if that communication is done on an employers own email system?
My niece sent an email from her private yahoo email account to her workplace union rep. The reps email address is also his work email address, so in theory, the email address belongs to the employer.
The employers email policy states that they are allowed to monitor emails going in and going out of their email accounts. Does anyone know if a union member emailing their union rep would have any legal protection if the employer were to start reading her emails to her union rep? My niece sent some emails to her union rep because she thought that they were protected but the employer says they're not and has accessed them.
