  • worried about DBS check for a new job can anyone help please

Firstly ide like to say I'm very ashamed to say that about a year ago I changed the price tags on a dress in a local store and got caught. This was my first ever offence and may I add last I don't know what I was thinking. Anyway the police were called and I ended up not being arrested but an officer later in the week as arranged came to my house to take a statement and issue me with a fixed penalty notice fine which I instantly paid. My question now is do I have a criminal record? I have applied for a new job requiring a DBS check done will this show up . and ruin my chances of getting this job. I'm looking for advice not judgement as I know I did wrong and have certainly learned from my mistakes

1st a fixed penalty is NOT proof of a criminal act AND 2nd you don't have to declare either spent or trivial convictions & it shouldn't show on a DBS check, although don't you mean a CRB Check (criminal records check)

Following the merger of Criminal Recordas Bureau and Independent Safeguarding Authority the CRB became The Disclosure and Barring Service (hence DBS)
It will depend on what check is carried out:Basic, standard or Enhanced and that will depend on the position being sought.

You don't have a criminal conviction, but it will be noted on your criminal record.

The High Court has ruled that no one need disclose what they referred to as trivial offences they also stated that a FPN is not an admission of guilt The judgement is on here somewhere as I think I posted but can't find it:tinysmile_cry_t:
