  • Absence Management - Appeal

I currently work in a call center and the company I work for has an absence management policy which I am climbing, I have just been put on a stage 3 for my sickness,

I have been diabetic for 26 years and struggle to maintain constant blood sugar levels, I also suffer from depression, I am aware that these are both covered by the equality act but this does not stop me from going through the stages and the next stage is dismissal

I have appealed the stage 3 as I do not feel that work are helping and I don't want it to continue further to dismissal

I see a diabetic specialist for my diabetes, have have had counseling and also attend anger management

Is there anything I should say / do. Or do I am I covered in anyway against absence management?

    Thanks for any help

How long have you worked for the company, were they aware of your health issues, and over how long a period has the absence been a problem

I have work there this time for 4 years but did work there before for 7 years but was made redundant, had a 9 month break in between.
They were aware of the diabetes but the depression was diagnosed 2 years ago.
The absence has been a problem for about 1 1/2 years after a suicide attempt, I was then put onto a stage 1 after 2 months off work

Yes they are fully aware, I thought it was best I didn't hide anything from them.

In your appeal you should bring the equality act to their attention. Nicely inform them a reasonable adjustment would be to relax the absence control policy.

Also anything that might help you at work, which in turn may reduce your absence.
