  • Telephone Phobia

Does anyone know if an employer can move someone to a different job, albeit in the same grade and in the same building, forcing them to use a telephone all day when they have a telephone phobia which they are receiving treatment for? I have been employed by this company for several years and have an exemplary attendance record. However, the threat of being made to do this is making me ill. Can anyone help please?

Good Lord, Humbert Whitehand, that's unusual and must be very distressing.

Is your employer aware of your condition?

It would help the Employment Law experts on here to help you if you gave as much detail (but nothing that could identify you) as possible.

Hi, yes they are aware. I have been attending counselling to help address this and my GP has now referred me for CBT. The waiting list is huge however and my employers want me to provide a definite date for when I will be 'cured'.
